Help On The Horizon

The Blue Jays held a half game over the Red Sox as interleague play began Friday, and there hasn't been much mystery behind Toronto's success. The Blue Jays' pitching has been better, plain and simple. But the Red Sox have a secret weapon.

I have mentioned this player before. He was one my "Red Sox to watch" this season. He has amassed 35 innings in AAA Pawtucket with a sparkling 1.01 ERA to go along with 37 K’s and a 2-0 record. In 20.1 May innings, this player has not given up a run. I know Dice-K just returned, but we need to find a way to get Clay Buchholz into the rotation. Buchholz is just 24 years old and has been the topic of trade rumors for a slugging corner infielder/outfielder.

If the Red Sox can make a genius move and get somebody who is definitely going to help us now and into the future, then by all means trade away. On the other hand if the Red Sox can hold onto Buchholz, we could have another stud in the rotation for the next ten years. Buchholz has special stuff and it's on display right now in AAA. He is trying to make a push, but the window is just not open. The problem is just that. If he can’t get into the rotation, the Sox might trade him for less than he’s worth. I can see Buchholz making an impact this year. I just hope it’s with the Red Sox. --- Nick Barone.
