Thank God There's Still 154 Games Left

It has been frustrating trying to put my feelings about this whole Beckett fiasco into words. Did you read the post-game quote from umpire crew chief Joe West? "Did he throw it up and in? Yeah," West said. "Do we believe he threw it at Abreu? No. Would we have warned him had both benches not emptied? Probably not ..."

While mulling that over, I was fortunate enough to find the words to express this outrage. They were already written on The Joy of Sox:

"Beckett was neither ejected nor warned. The four umpires on the field believed he did absolutely nothing wrong. Yet he was suspended and fined, while Hunter and Speier, who were thrown out of the game, were only fined."

And while I was hoping I could take some solace in our bullpen pitching ten scoreless innings Tuesday night and end this story on a happy note, I just watched Oakland A's outfielder Travis Buck hit the cheapest infield single I've ever seen to beat us in the 12th.

Deep breath. ... It's only April. ... It's only April. ... --- ACS.
