Rashad Bishop was the brightest star of many in UC's win over Toledo Wednesday night. The junior scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting and also led the team with eight rebounds.
UC head coach Mick Cronin obviously likes the offense but more likes the defensive side of Bishop calling him one of the top two or three defenders in the Big East, especially on the perimeter against the three ball.
Deonta Vaughn had a big night as well scoring 13 points which put him over the 1,500 point mark for his career. Vaughn also passed out a team-high nine assists and had four steals.
The Cats shot 52 percent from the field compared to 39 percent on Monday night in the season-opener. The depth showed for the Cats too as nine players played more than 10 minutes and four players scored double figures.
Yancy Gates was nothing short of dominant in his 27 minutes of action scoring 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
Give credit to Toledo though. The Rockets were led by Stephen Albrecht and Jake Barnett who scored 19 and 21 points respectively. The team turned it over 16 times though which cost them.
