The wait is over for former UC quarterback and Cincinnati native (Reading High School)Tony Pike. The Carolina Panthers took Pike in the sixth round and will most likely back up the Panthers second-round pick Jimmy Clausen.
Pike was regarded by most experts as a top-5 quarterback, along with Clausen, in this years draft. While Clausen was the third quarterback selected, Pike had to wait while over 10 quarterbacks were selected before him.
With the addition of Pike, the Panthers have four quarterbacks now on their roster after showing the door to long time QB Jake Delhomme. Most teams will trim their quarterbacks down to three before the season starts but expect Pike to make the team.
