I'd like to ask how many other BCS teams could play their backup quarterback and not miss a beat. I think Oklahoma did it today, but this was an incredible performance from Zach Collaros today for the Cats.

I thought they tried to establish the run game as UC rushed for 182 yards on 34 carries. With the game plan Brian Kelly had, I thought that they knew Collaros would start all week.

Mardy Gilyard and Armon Binns are unstoppable wide receivers for UC. Today they combined for over 150 yards and two touchdowns in a game that they didn't play much in the second half. I firmly believe that this offense can match up with anyone in the country. Binns benefits greatly from double teams that opponents try to put on Gilyard and he takes advantage of it.

On a side note, a very emotional day at West Virginia today as teams around the Big East honored Jasper Howard. Howard was stabbed to death last Sunday morning, hours after UConn beat Louisville in Storrs, Conn. I asked Kelly about it in the press conference this week and he said that the UC players had a banner made to send to UConn. The banner showed a picture of Howard surrounded by a "C" paw; UC's signature logo. The "C" was the color blue that UConn wears. I saw the banner which all of the players signed and it was a fitting tribute to Howard. I talked with Gilyard about it and he said, "Who knows, two inches to the left and Jasper could still be here," Gilyard said. "She’s so heartbroken, this is her baby. I really feel like I lost a best friend and we weren’t even close like that. I guess football keeps everybody close." Gilyard talking about Howard's mother in that last line.
