Ocho Cinco To NFL: I'll Tweet When I Want

Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson said he wants to Tweet during his games this season. The NFL said he can’t.

Chad’s reaction to the NFL ban? Tweet on, baby!

"There's nothing they can do,” Ocho Cinco said Monday night from the red carpet of the Sports Dream charity poker tournament at the Playboy Mansion.

“I'll do it anyway. I don't even know why they're fussing with that. When I say I'm gonna do something, I'm gonna do it anyway regardless of what they say."

Chad has clearly given his Twitter gameplan plenty of thought. Consider this Tweet from last week: "Question? If I tweet during the game and they suspend me, would I get paid during my suspension since it's not a legal issue?"

After Chad first mentioned the idea of in-game Tweeting last week, the NFL cited an existing policy that bans the use of cell phones and mobile devices on the sidelines.

But a former NFL player, who asked to remain anonymous, said that almost every NFLer checks his messages at halftime. Could a locker room Tweet be far behind? It has already happened in the NBA with Charlie Villanueva.

Chad is planning to unveil more than just Tweets this season.

“Everything that you're not supposed to do as a player will be done,” he said. “Pushing the envelope. In a fun way. I'm not going to do anything degrading to the people I'm playing against."

You can follow all the Tweets of Ocho Cinco and more than 300 other athletes on our sister site AthleteTweets.com.

Great....another spoiled, overpaid athlete that cant follow rules. Great role models for the kids. If this guy wasnt playing football, he would probably be robbing 7-11 stores!

Some points are worth being made...other points MUST be made. This is neither. This is the kid in class who says, "Why can't I talk in class? It's a free country!" I understand these guys are hired for their specific skill sets, but can't we institute some sort of maturity guidelines for these PROFESSIONALS? Probably not since it's not in the interest of the league's bottomline (understood). Any other institution in any other business would have stepped up and laid down the rules and stuck to them. I hope the NFL sticks to their guns here. If this was war-time America, we'd all be nazis at this point with the types of 'heroes' our children have to look up to. I mean really, twitter as a constitutional rite? Who's bad joke is this anyway?

it would be so awesome if we had neighborhood teams with real folks. And if we the fans who love the sport would spend our money to go see them instead of these overpaid jerks that would flip the game upside down.. NFL stands for not football league Not a fan league but instead Need Funds League.

I say he is just a pussy, never minded his parents, a real low life, a big bully and has no compasssion, just wants to be a wanna be. He has no meaning to life, it's all about him. He needs God in his life, maybe he could share something great with the world.

When you are working for someone else. You have a responsibility to to govern yourself to the league rules and regulations. O.J.'s attitude is what got him in the trouble that he is facing today. Grow-up, Grow-up, Grow-up Ochocinco Chad...

When you are hired to do a job.. You agree to the contract of labor or job rules. It is clearly on the side of common sense and or knowledge of why you should not have any communications device on the sidelines of any sport.. ie."hey tell the coach we are gonna throw the ball to number 22" get real.. Fire the guy or let him tweet about how awesome it is to be loosing 14,000 a game and not playing and building stats.

I'm tired of Ocho Psycho and his "me first" attitude. He will never be a winner because he thinks he is bigger than the team. Unfortunately, as a Bengal fan, not only do I have to read the national coverage of this idiot, but also the local stories. His attitude is no longer welcome in Cincinnati by anyone who it a true fan and understands the concept of "team sport."

I have to agree. This is truly selfish I see that he not even talking about bringing home a championship he looking for people to notice that he is tweeting, caatch the balls chad and when you're done look into your inbox and answer the questions while going back home. You are going to go down in history as a great talent in the sport but a loser in good sportmanship attributes, if you can live with that then tweet on brotha,

Let's face it, the NFL is a job for Chad & a business for them. I can't spend my day on twitter at work, and if I told my boss to shove it I would be tuning up my resume' by days end.
