So we’ve heard about Kenny Mayne’s life, his show and some of his better stories as an intrepid young reporter, but what’s his take on the way his career has shaped up? What exactly is this gig that takes him all over the country? And what does his producer think of him as an ... er ... actor? Or is he a comedian? Well, we let him decide.

In this, the fifth of seven – that’s right, seven! – installments of our interview with ESPN’s Kenny Mayne, the “journaltainer” gives us his attempt at a personal job description. Pardon my weak attempt at mimicking his sense of humor, then laughing at my own joke. Again, I'm still getting used to this whole interviewing-on-camera thing.

It should be emphasized, though, even if it is fairly evident from the footage, that for a guy that is so widely recognized and popular in the sports world, Kenny Mayne is able to talk about himself in such a humble and self-deprecating way that it almost seems he has no concept of his own popularity – that he somehow arrived in a fantasyland where he is allowed to act on all those goofy impulses that most of us are told to ignore, and he gets paid to do it. His affability certainly is no act and, as one commenter noted earlier, he definitely would be a great guy to have a beer with. Enjoy.
